The drawback here is that the ski pole must be firmly planted in snow or it could be blown over in wind. The pole size needs to be 7/16 inch to 3/4 inches in diameter.

The Ice Screw Mount is light weight and approximately 12 inches high. It simply inserts into an ice screw. The downside is that you will need to carry extra ice screws or you can use existing tent screws but then you sacrifice alert time.
If the Critter Gitter is that close to a tent, there is very little response time for inhabitants when the alarm is triggered. Also, sensing distance is diminished by really cold temperatures.
However, if you are on ice, there may not be another good mounting option. A sled can also be a good mounting point.
